Let's check out some COOL colors for Autumn/Fall?
The stores are traditionally full of the 'pumpkin palette', orange and mustard, olive and camel. Wonderful if you have a Warm skin tone but for many women with Cool coloring, these shades are anything but flattering.
So let's highlight some brilliant color combinations and fresh ideas from the Summer, Winter and Cool color palettes that hold their own through the season of 'mellow fruitfulness'.
You don't need to stick to neutrals for a big purchase. One of the biggest joys for many women is that cool colors for Autumn/Winter give them the opportunity to enjoy a splash of rich color and wait for the compliments.
Copy our favorite Princess. High contrast is stunning on Cool skins, and the Princess of Wales has teamed all the coats here with black which makes for easy accessoring and gives maximum contrast. These would all look equally good with navy or charcoal gray.
Note how she chooses a matching fuchsia turtle neck to look more casual - it doesn't have to match exactly, a plain or a print that includes the tones would be equally attractive.
What a fabulous photo of one of our favorite actresses! Reese Witherspoon is petite and keeps her coat a bit shorter so it doesn't overwhelm.
You don't need to be limited to plain colors as I show here. If you enjoy a print, then take a look at Joe Brown for some stunning and yet warm and comfortable long sleeved dresses.
Pick out your favorite cool colors for Autumn as accessories. It might just be a belt or a bag but boots/shoes are often available in the most brilliant shades. Or copy Reese Witherspoon's look with a Barbie pink coat.
She looks amazing in this color and so do YOU!! So enjoy it!
Tartan wool cloth originates from the clans of Scotland, but it's become a fashion must-have for the Autumn and Winter seasons.
Although if you're Scottish you wear the correct tartan for your clan/family, most of us have no such limitations and can choose according to taste and color direction. There are dozens of different colors, both Warm and Cool, but I'm honing in on tartans or plaids in Cool colors.
It's a wonderful base to use for co-ordination as most tartans include several colors. You can pick out any color for a blouse or warm jumper then perhaps another for your coat.
You can even create a monochromatic look where the shades don't have to match exactly - see second left below.
Looking for soft and cosy knitwear. The new range of loungewear from Joe Brown's is slouchy and stylish.
As with every season, if you're looking for inspiration, try Kettlewell Colours who manufacture a huge range of knitwear in every color featured in your color swatch.
In sumptuous merino wool, lambswool and cashmeriono, you'll find cool colors for Autumn in traditional and new styles for every occasion.
Get a unique style fix with Chico's who introduce a new and exciting twist of cool colors every Autumn/Winter. There's always a feeling of luxury and elegance.
The collections offer easy co-ordination and the 'how to wear it' images show additional ways to mix and match.

Whether you are Summer, Cool or part of the Winter season, your complexion is Cool toned.
Summer people will have a lower contrast than the other two color families and will look their best in shades with a lighter saturation, not necessarily lighter in tone.
Those with a Cool color family always look their best when wearing a medium contrast - light/medium or medium/deep rather than light v deep.
Those with a Winter direction have the strongest contrast and even when transitioning into gray hair her coloring will demand the boldest and most dramatic of tones.
But ALL follow the same tones and shades, they just go lighter or deeper!
