Your Vertical Body, basicly, is the relationship of your body length against your leg length. Everyone's measurements are different and there is no right or wrong size to be.
However, I'm going to look at all our body parts that relate to your vertical figure.
We all have bits of our body that we like and bits we don't like. How you like to dress and show off your shape will be different to the way someone else wants to dress.
The 5 basic body types are purely generic because few of us have perfect proportions and everyone's figure is slightly different. Do you sometimes feel you're the only woman who can't find clothes to fit?
Literally millions of women wear the same dress size so you can understand why it's often necessary to adjust clothes to fit your own unique body shape.
It's frustrating to say the least, but there are very few women who can buy ready-to-wear clothes that fit perfectly.
Because...
So...
Measurements and sizes mean nothing... it's how you FEEL that counts. One woman may enjoy having a large bust, another may want to minimize her assets with a loose fit.
The way you use Color, Shape and Style can visually change your body shape. You can choose the parts of your body you want to accentuate and those you'd rather camouflage. No matter your size if you want to look taller, slimmer etc. you can always do a bit of visual cheating...
Your body shape is based on your bone structure which never changes which is why your Body Type always remains the same whatever your size.
BUT yes you CAN certainly change your shape visually by the way you dress and the way you use Color Shape and Style.
When you understand your vertical body shape you can visually balance and flatter your figure.
Even a slight adjustment to the length of your top or hemline can make a big difference to the overall effect.
Do you have a short or wide neck? Perhaps a little bit of a double chin?
We all have figure faults but by carefully choosing the cut and style of what you're wearing, you can influence the eye and feel far more confident about the way you look.
A slender or LONG NECK is considered to be very elegant and is much envied. It usually goes with a slender figure overall that is a perfect 'clothes horse' and can make you look taller.
We all look at things differently however ... one woman's assets are another woman's concerns.
Wide leg pants are always elegant and do a great cover-up job for lots of figure faults.
Want to hide your legs or feet? Balance your figure? Need to look taller? And they're bang on trend.
Many women would like to look taller - even if they're not particularly petite!
So if you want to create the illusion of height, perhaps to increase confidence or presence, see these styling tips.
It's easy for shorties like me to forget that a tall lady can have just as many problems finding clothes to fit as us vertically challenged 'shorties'. Finding garments to accommodate a long torso with extra length in the sleeves and trouser legs can be a nightmare.
Many tall ladies are happy to stand tall but others feel self conscious...
Is it just another Body Type? No - everyone has a generic BODY TYPE but if you are 5ft 3" (sometimes considered 5ft 4") or under you are officially considered PETITE as well.
There are few women that fit perfectly into a regular size, being shorter than average adds a extra difficulty.
When we talk about measurements around our bust, waist, hips etc. this is called our Horizontal Body.
Do you sometimes feel you're the only woman who can't find clothes to fit?
