QUESTION

I think I have a neutral undertone but it's hard to tell with light golden freckles and rosacea on my face. I have been typed as an Autumn and a Summer.

My veins are blue/green and my hair is light ash brown but looked almost ginger on the floor of the hair dressers. I have blue/grey eyes.

ANSWER

Hi Kate

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble with your Color Analysis consultations when you were looking for a color direction. It's an expensive business if it goes wrong.

You appear to have gentle coloring with a soft contrast. As you've been determined both Autumn and Summer it tells me that Soft/Muted appears to be a common denominator here.

I would suggest that you look at the Soft/Muted Color Family to see if the colors resonate with you.

The Muted palette contains has both Warm and Cool undertones (neither are extreme) and it could bridge the gap for you. If you were working with a consultant that only used the Seasons you can slip through the net.

I hope that helps Kate,
kind regards
Pamela

I'm so pleased this was useful to you. Yes the word Muted can be quite off-putting. I also like the term 'richly blended' as Muted colors are a real mix of colors which takes away any sharpness.

Soft Palette.

Thank you so much for your guidance. I am definitely in the Soft colour palette. I suit both gold and silver and I love to wear dark grey and navy as my neutrals (cool) but suit more yellow greens (warm) to blue greens. I never wear brown or beige. Your mentioning of my low contrast makes sense why tone on tone colours are a lot more flattering than very light with dark or bright colours. I think the term muted was confusing me, as it implies a more harsher bland colouring than the the more delicate term soft.
