Hi there
Lots of color in the magazine today!
With St Patrick's Day on the horizon I thought we'd have a good look at Green! Whether or not you're celebrating St Patrick's Day, green is a strong color for Spring/Summer 2024. And yet, strangely, many people have never even considered wearing it! I show you how to recognize the best shades for you!
Something I haven't looked at for a long time is how Color Analysis has it's origins in Nature and I show you how the harmony is created. Fascinating stuff!
I have a birthday this week (my word the years roll on too quickly) and have a family weekend ahead of me. But the most important thing for all of us to look forward to is that Spring is just around the corner and a few more green shoots arrive every day.
Enjoy whatever sunshine comes your way - with love Pamela x
Your local river may not turn into Shades of Green this week but you can certainly celebrate the fact that GREEN is a BIG color for 2024.
Don't worry about the neon brights on the runways, there are so many fabulous shades of green out there and there's one that's just right for YOU!
Identifying the best shade can, however, cause confusion so I try to simplify it. Any shade that echoes the undertone of your skin will look good on you.
Color Analysis in Nature creates Harmony! Have you ever looked at a landscape and seen clashing colors or spotted a wildflower that isn’t at one with it’s surroundings?
Wherever we look there are stunning natural color palettes.
Because we love America... and because my husband is a great photographer we have many amazingly scenic shots from our trips. It's these amazing photographs that really opened my eyes to the way Nature works.
Natalie, as many of you tell me, had been given two different color directions which were polar opposite, Cool Summer and Warm Autumn. Approaching middle age is often the time that a woman considers Color Analysis and poor information only brings frustration and adds to a lack of confidence. Fortunately, I've been able to come up with an Autumn direction that makes a lot of sense to us both!
Natalie says: "I’ve always suspected I’m Autumn! I was typed as a teen by a Mary Kay sales lady as a Cool Summer and it never seemed right, I’m relieved she was wrong as I hate those colors! I struggled with foundation that looked too pink on me until I decided on my own to try a more neutral/yellow shade and it made all the difference.
I see from the images that my current hair color does wash me out a bit, and I’m going to do it darker next time. I was afraid as I got older that darker hair might be too harsh on me (and lighter is easier to blend in with gray).
I have entirely too much black in my closet and it's certainly more challenging to find these items in browns and other warm colors. I am a Pilates teacher, and workout gear is notoriously bright, pastels, or black, however, I have no less than 4 sweaters in pumpkin/terracotta for my days off, so off to a good start there. 😄
I appreciate your work/expertise, I’m feeling validated, and also excited to try more of the mustard yellows that I am always too nervous to wear". Natalie, USA
